OSCE election observers meet Armenian prosecutor-general

Yerevan, 12th May: Prosecutors of the Armenian regions and

communities are charged urgently to examine claims of electoral

commissions, organizations and citizens about the forthcoming

parliamentary elections [on 30th May], and to prevent

violations of the law by taking counter-measures, Armenian

Prosecutor-General Agvan Ovsepyan told the head of the OSCE

observers mission, Nikolay Vulchanov (Bulgaria), and the deputy

head of the mission, Eugenio Polizzi (Italy), during their

meeting on 12th May. The OSCE officials are visiting Armenia in

connection with the forthcoming elections.

Noyan Tapan agency was told at the department of

information and public relations of the Armenian Prosecutor

General's Office that during the meeting Vulchanov and Polizzi

presented the aims and principles of OSCE's activity in details

. In turn, Ovsepyan presented the legislative basis for

implementing the prosecutor's supervision of the legality of

the organization and conduct of the parliamentary elections,

and spoke in detail about the procedures adopted in this

direction.
