Azeri president's son heads ruling party list in parliamentary polls

Baku, 23rd August, Sharg correspondent F. Mammadova: The New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), the Azerbaijani Liberal Party (ALP) and the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (CPA), which have been registered by the Central Electoral Commission [CEC] to stand in the parliamentary elections, have furnished the CEC with lists of their candidates. The top five names for the NAP are headed by Ilham Aliyev (deputy chairman of the NAP [and son of President Heydar Aliyev]), Ali Ahmadov, (executive secretary of the NAP), Siyavush Novruzov (deputy executive secretary of the NAP), Murtuz Aleskerov (a member of the NAP political council) and Mikhail Zabelin (a member of the NAP). The CPA list is headed by the chairman of this party, Ramiz Ahmadov, and the ALP list by the chairwoman of the party, Lala-Shovkat Hajiyeva, and her deputies, Avaz Teymurkhan, Rashad Rzaguliyev and Tofig Abbasov. Moreover, yesterday's session of the CEC registered the Republican Party of Azerbaijan and the People's Democratic Party of Azerbaijan to stand in the elections.
