November entitled "Public organizations to boycott elections by

Public organizations, including the local branch of the D.
Aliyeva Society for the Protection of Womens' Rights, the
League for the Protection of the Labour Rights of Citizens, the
national minorities' culture centre and the committee for the
protection of the rights of the poor held a round table at the
Human Rights Resource Centre for Guba-Khachmaz region yesterday.

Leaders of the participating organizations took a decision to
boycott the municipal elections. They concluded that the
infringements of the law that have taken place since the
beginning of the election campaign and the discrimination
observed during the distribution of signature collection lists,
show that the elections will be falsified. We should note that
seven leaders of the organizations boycotting the elections
nominated their candidacies for the elections.

The public organizations plan to hold a sitting on 12th
November with the participation of the rank and file members
who have nominated themselves, i.e. after the registration of
nominees has been completed, to discuss their preliminary
decision.
