Baku, 22nd September: A total of 10 political and public
organizations of the city of Gyandzha [second-largest
Azerbaijani city], which ran in the initial stage of the
municipal elections, decided to refuse to run in them further.
They demanded that documents and protocols, which were
submitted earlier to territorial electoral commissions, be
returned to them. However, the chairmen of these commissions
refused to do this. This was reported in today's statement by
political and public organizations of the city of Gyandzha
signed by the local branches of the People's Front of
Azerbaijan Party, Party for National Independence of
Azerbaijan, Musavat Party, Unity Party, Social Democratic Party
of Azerbaijan, Civic Solidarity Party, Communist Party,
Democratic Development Foundation, National Committee of the
Helsinki Citizens' Assembly and the Organization for Civic
Society.
