Text of report entitled "Workers have set up their own party" by Sabuhi in Azerbaijani newspaper 'Yeni Musavat'
A new party has emerged in the political life of Azerbaijan. Recently the Azerbaijani Workers Party (AWP) was founded in Sumgait [industrial city north of Baku]. Poverty-stricken people, and industrial and office workers are the social base of the party. Akif Hasanoglu was elected the chairman of the AWP at the constituent conference. Hasanoglu is well-known as the scriptwriter of the film My White Town. It is expected also that the AWP will join the Socialist Party of Azerbaijan very soon.
