Baku, 7th August: Today the Central Electoral Commission
announced the list of constituencies for the holding of
municipal elections in Azerbaijan presented by the Milli Majlis
[parliament]. The list was published in the official press
today.

According to the list, it is expected that 4,485
municipalities will be set up in Azerbaijan. Some 4,176
municipalities will be set up in villages and 85 in towns. In
Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic there will be 224
municipalities, and 69 municipalities will be set up in the
capital.

The first elections to municipal bodies will be held on
12th December 1999.
