Baku, 23rd August: Janpolad Gafarov, chairman of lot-casting
commission No 20 of the town of Sheki, has turned to the
chairman of the Central Electoral Commission [CEC], as well as
to the leaders of the Party for National Independence of
Azerbaijan [PNIA], People's Front of Azerbaijan Party [PFAP]
and the Musavat Party, and to the US embassy in Azerbaijan over
irregularities that took place in the formation of the
territorial electoral commission.

Janpolad Gafarov blames the irregularities on Azer
Tagiyev, member of the Central Electoral Commission. In his
address, he requests that Jafar Valiyev, chairman of the CEC,
take relevant measures against Tagiyev.

Turan note: The municipal elections will proceed on 12th
December this year. In compliance with the CEC's schedule,
territorial electoral commissions should be formed by 8th
September.
