Four parties said to win by party lists in Kazakh parliamentary elections

Astana, 12th October: According to preliminary information, four out of the nine parties have overcome the 7 per cent barrier in the elections to the lower chamber of parliament in Kazakhstan: Fatherland [Otan], the Communist Party, the Agrarian Party and the Civic Party, a well-informed source told Interfax on Tuesday.

The source said that Fatherland had won 30.5 per cent of the votes of the electorate who cast their ballot, the Communist Party - 17.8 per cent, the Agrarian Party - 12.6 per cent and the Civic Party - 10.9 per cent.

In line with electoral legislation, the representatives of these parties, if the information is reliable, will enter the majlis by party lists in proportion to the results obtained. Accordng to the source's information, the Citizen Party won 4.5 per cent of the votes, the Alash Party - 3 per cent, the People's Congress - 2.8 per cent, the Revival Party - 1.9 per cent and the party of labour [Republican Political Labour Party] - 1.4 per cent.
