for parliamentary elections

Text of report by Kazakh Khabar TV on 24th August
Representatives of the Citizen [Azamat] Party received the
first ten certificates from the Central Electoral Commission
[CEC] for candidates for parliamentary seats. Contenders from
the Communist Party, Otan [Fatherland] Party and Republican
People's Party of Kazakhstan submitted their documents [for
registration].

[Correspondent, over video of registration procedure]
Citizen [Azamat] Party was the first to finish the registration
process of its list. By a resolution of the CEC all ten members
of Citizen [Azamat] Party, who were nominated at the last
congress of the party, have been registered as candidates for
the parliamentary elections. The Secretary of the Executive
Committee of Citizen [Azamat] Party received ten certificates
from the hands of Zagipa Baliyeva [chairman of the CEC]. She
said members of the Citizen Party fully assessed the latest
changes in the election legislation. Thanks to the reduction of
a candidate's fee and the lifting of the ban to stand for
elections for those against whom disciplinary measures had been
taken, many people have had an opportunity to stand in the
elecitons. Now, the CEC is giving documents to Otan Party,
Communist Party and Republican People's Party of Kazakhstan.
[Baliyeva] The CEC grants all regulatory documents to
them, all instructions and mementoes. All regulatory bases
needed for the work of a political party [are to be given] and
I think the political parties have no questions to ask the CEC.
[Correspondent] By today, the Otan Party has the longest
list for registration - 18 people. Incidentally, according to
the law, regardless of the number of candidates, any single
party cannot spend more than 39,750,000 tenge. The expenditures
of candidates on single-mandate constituencies is restricted to
4,500,000 tenge. Of them 530,000 tenge must be from a
candidate's personal funds. The rest are voluntary donations
and funds from public associations.
