Kazakh electoral commission sets order of ballot paper

Interfax-Kazakhstan on 11th September

Astana, 11th September: Lots were cast at the Kazakh Central
Electoral Commission on Saturday [11th August] to determine the
order of the parties on the party list on ballot papers for the
forthcoming elections to the Majlis (lower house) of the
republic's parliament.

The parties on the ballot papers will be listed in the
following order: the Communist Party, the Agrarian Party, the
Fatherland [Otan] Party, People's Congress of Kazakhstan, the
Republican People's Party of Kazakhstan, the Revival Party, the
Citizen [Azamat] Party, the Alash Party, the Labour Party and
the Civic Party of Kazakhstan.

The registration of the candidates for the Majlis ended on
9th September at 2400 [local time, 1800 gmt].

According to the CEC, 565 candidates have been registered
in single-seat constituencies for 67 seats in the lower house.
Of these, 80 candidates were nominated by public associations,
115 by political parties and 370 nominated themselves.
On party lists, 70 candidates have been nominated for 10
seats in the Majlis.

The election campaign will last 30 days from the moment
registration ends.

The elections to the Majlis and maslikhats (local
authorities) of all levels will be held on 10th October on the
basis of a direct secret vote.
