Kyrgyz communists registered to run in parliamentary elections

 

Excerpts from report by Kyrgyz radio on 20th January

Today the Central Electoral Commission approved the list of candidates for
the Legislative Assembly [standing chamber of the parliament] of the
Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic in the single republic-wide
electoral district, who were nominated by the Party of Communists of
Kyrgyzstan. The chairman of the CEC [Central Electoral Commission],
Sulayman Imanbayev, handed a copy of the Central Electoral Commission
resolution on the registration to the leader of Kyrgyzstan's communists,
Absamat Masaliyev, at a session of the CEC which has just finished.
So, the Party of Communists of Kyrgyzstan is the first political party
registered to run in the elections, and has nine contenders for deputy

Today is the final day of nomination of candidates for deputy seats.
District electoral commissions will work till 2400 [1900 gmt], Sulayman
Imanbayev told journalists.

According to the Central Electoral Commission, a total of 521 candidates for
deputy seats have so far been nominated, of which 275 were nominated to the
Legislative Assembly [standing chamber] and 246 to the Assembly of People's
Representatives [non-standing chamber]. In total, 296 candidates have been
registered, 152 of them to the Legislative Assembly and 144 to the Assembly
of People's Representatives. A total of 11 political parties have submitted
documents to the CEC for verification up to date.
