Text of report by Kyrgyz radio on 9th March
[Announcer] A phone-in conference was held today with the participation of
the chairmen of the electoral district commissions discussing the readiness
of the commissions for the forthcoming second round of the parliamentary
elections in the Kyrgyz republic to be held on 12th March. The press
service of the Central Electoral Commission [CEC] reported that the
secretary of state of the Kyrgyz republic, Naken Kasiyev, attended a
phone-in conference and asked representatives of the state administrations
to render assistance to the electoral district commissions on the day of
the elections, on 12th March.
The secretary of state expressed the hope that the second round of the
elections will be more transparent. In the course of the phone-in
conference, the chairman of the CEC, Sulayman Imanbayev, stressed the need
for a more precise definition of the electoral roll and to ensure that
every voter has received notification of voting. Another package of
questions included ballot papers and their protection, because the delivery
of the ballot papers to the precinct electoral commissions will be started
as early as tomorrow. Sulayman Imanbayev especially stressed that the
precinct electoral commissions should work independently on 12th March and
should not allow any meddling in their work.
