Excerpt from report by the Kyrgyz news agency Kabar on 13th March
Bishkek, 13th March. According to the results of the second round of the
[parliamentary] elections in Kyrgyzstan held on 12th March, it is possible
to say that a new two-chamber parliament is formed and that it will start
its work in April. The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission [CEC],
S. [Sulayman] Imanbayev, said this today.
The head of the CEC said 15 deputy seats "reserved" for political parties
would be distributed as follows: the Party of Communists of Kyrgyzstan,
which gained the majority of votes, will get five deputy seats in the
future parliament; the electoral bloc the Union of Democratic Forces four
seats; the Democratic Party of Women of Kyrgyzstan two seats; the Party of
Veterans of the War in Afghanistan and of Participants of Other Local
Conflicts two deputy seats; the party of O. [Omurbek] Tekebayev Ata-Meken
[the Fatherland] and the My Country Party of Action will respectively get
one deputy seat each in the Legislative Assembly [standing chamber] of the
Supreme Council [Kyrgyz parliament].
Imanbayev said their [political party members] list of names will be
announced simultaneously with the final results on single-seat electoral
districts which will be completed after the gathering of all protocols from
the electoral districts and completion of court examinations.
