Leader of Kyrgyz opposition fails to win in runoff elections, radio says

The main Kyrgyz opposition figure, Feliks Kulov, the leader of the Ar-Namys
(Honour) Party and former mayor of Bishkek, has failed to collect a
majority of votes in the second round of the elections to the Kyrgyz
parliament held on 12th March.

Reporting the following day on the preliminary results in the Kara-Bura No
44 electoral district, Kyrgyz radio said:" We remind you that Kulov's
opponent, Sultanov, scored a victory in this electoral district according
to the results of yesterday's elections. More than 56 per cent of the
voters cast their ballot in favour of Sultanov, while about 40 per cent of
the voters of this electoral district cast their ballot in favour of
Kulov."
