Registration of Tajik parliamentary candidates begins

The nomination of candidates to the Supreme Assembly [parliament] of
Tajikistan has ended. Now about 200 candidates have ben nominated to the
Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan in 41 constituencies. The registration of
candidates to the Supreme Assembly will begin today.

The country's Central Election and Referendum Commission has appealed to all
authorized agencies to present information about those candidates who are
considered unsuitable by courts, have been kept in custody or are being
treated in obligatory medical establishments by court decision.

Under the constitutional law of the Republic of Tajikistan on elections to
the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, the abovementioned
people do not have the right to be a member of the National Assembly
[Majlisi Milli, upper chamber] and of the Assembly of Representatives
[Majlisi Namoyandagon, lower chamber].
