Text of report by Tajik radio on 18th January
The chairman of the Tajik Central Electoral and Referendum Commission,
Mirzoali Boltuyev, received the head of the political department of the UN
[Observer] Mission in Tajikistan, Iogesh Saksena, at the latter's request
yesterday.
The commission's chairman briefed the foreign diplomat on the preparations
for the forthcoming [parliamentary] elections, including educating people
on the constitutional law on elections, holding seminars together with
international organizations and other things.
The sides expressed the hope that the upcoming elections [on 27th February]
would be democratic.
