Text of report by Iranian radio from Mashhad on 31st January
According to the reports available, the chairman of the Central Electoral
Commission of Tajikistan [Mirzoali Boltuyev] has said that the embassy of
the Islamic Republic of Iran handed over 20 tonnes of paper to the
commission to conduct the elections to the Assembly of Representatives.
Mirzoali Boltuyev told journalists on Monday [31st January] that this was
the only aid sent so far from foreign countries for conducting the
elections to the country's parliament. He expressed the hope that the
elections to the parliament of Tajikistan was the final stage in the
country's peace deal and would be successfully conducted with the
assistance of international organizations and the countries acting as
guarantors of peace.
Speaking to journalists following a meeting with Tajik President Emomali
Rahmonov, Boltuyev urged international organizations and friendly countries
to assist with the conducting of the parliamentary elections.
