Text of report by Iranian radio from Mashhad on 4th February

[Presenter] A group of the Islamic Rebirth Party of Tajikistan, led by its
chairman [who is also the chairman of the National Reconciliation
Commission], Sayed Abdullo Nuri, has been visiting [northern] Leninobod
Region to canvass and propagate their programme and goals before the
elections. Here is a report on this by our colleague in Khujand, Abduvosit
Salimzoda:

[Salimzoda] A group of the presidium of the Islamic Rebirth Party of
Tajikistan [IRPT], led by the chairman of the IRPT, Sayed Abdullo Nuri, is
continuing its tour round towns and Districts of Leninobod Region. Over the
past few days, the group visited the town of Uroteppa and Ghonchi District
and met the people of those areas and conducted conversations with them.
During the meeting with the people in Uroteppa, members of the IRPT
presidium talked about their programme and the aims and goals of the IRPT
in the elections and said that the elections should be held in a fair and
democratic atmosphere. During the meeting the chairman of the IRPT, Sayed
Abdullo Nuri, explained the IRPT's programme and goals and dwelled on the
agreement on establishing peace in Tajikistan. He said that the IRPT's main
aim was the establishment of peace and tranquillity in Tajikistan. Only in
a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere can one conduct fair and democratic
elections and other political events, Sayed Abdullo Nuri added. The IRPT
chairman called on all participants of the meeting to take an active part
in the parliamentary elections and cast their votes for the best and worthy
candidates.

The group of the IRPT presidium is continuing its tour round towns and
Districts of Leninobod Region.
