The head of the press centre of the Central Election [and Referendum]
Commission, Abdurahmon Abdumannonov, told Asia-Plus on 29th February that
the final results had not been summed up yet. The results of the polls
according to party lists are not known either.
Nonetheless, winners are already known in 29 single-seat constituencies.
Among them: former deputy prime ministers, Abdurahmon Azimov (from the
People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, PDPT) and Jamoliddin Mansurov
(from the Communist Party of Tajikistan, CPT]); former state advisors of
the president, Amirsho Miraliyev (CPT) and Khalifabobo Homidov (PDPT); the
former chairman of a Supreme Assembly committee, Safar Safarov (CPT); a
well-known singer, Saidqul Bilolov; the former chairmen of Markazi and
Frunze districts of the capital, Izzatullo Ashurov and Azamqul Eshonqulov
(both from the PDPT); the former [first] deputy defence minister, Abdullo
Habibov (PDPT); a deputy director of the Tajik Aluminium Plant, Sanovbar
Hamidova (PDPT); the president of the Football Federation, Khuja Karimov,
and others.
Run-off elections will be held in 12 electoral districts, including
Fayzobod, Kofarnihon, Vanj, Khorugh, Mastchoh, Asht, Uroteppa,
Konibodom,Vakhsh, Yovon, Muminobod and Vose, which should be held within
two months in line with the law on elections.
