Tajik election commission sums up first round results

The Central Election and Referendum Commission [CERC] summed up the results
of the elections to the Majlisi Namoyandagon [Assembly of Representatives]
of Tajikistan's Supreme Assembly today.

In line with Articles 12, 48, 50 and 54 of the constitutional law of
Tajikistan on elections to the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of
Tajikistan and on the basis of the CERC's protocol on the results of the
elections in the single all-republican district [on party lists] of 6th
March 2000 and on the basis of electoral district commissions' protocols on
the elections to the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan's Supreme
Assembly in single-seat districts, the CERC adopted the following
resolution:

The elections of deputies to the Assembly of Representatives of Tajikistan's
Supreme Assembly in the single all-republican district [on party lists] and
in single-seat constituencies are valid.

The elections in Khojamaston single-seat district No 28 of [southern]
Khatlon Region, in connection with violations of the law on elections, are
not valid.

Forty-nine deputies were elected to the Assembly of Representatives of
Tajikistan's Supreme Assembly: 22 deputies from the single all-republican
district [on party lists] and 27 from single-seat constituencies. Runoff
elections in 13 single-seat districts are set for 12th March 2000. The
deputies who were elected deputies to the Assembly of Representatives of
Tajikistan's Supreme Assembly as a result of the election of 27th February
2000 are to be registered.
