Tajik Communist candidate barred from runoff poll

The Asht district electoral commission [northern Leninobod Region] has
pulled a Communist candidate, Nodir Solijonov, out of the second round of
the [parliamentary] elections because his supporters had allegedly
canvassed for him on the pollling day.

The chairman of the auditing commission of the Communist Party of
Tajikistan, Abduali Abdulloyev, told the Asia-Plus news agency on 9th March
that the Communists disagreed with this decision and the same day appealed
against it to the Central Electoral and Referendum Commission.
We will remind you that the second candidate, who has got through the first
round [in this district], is the chairman of a Supreme Assembly committee,
a candidate from the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan, Ibrohim
Usmonov.
