Text of report by the Tajik news agency Asia-Plus on 23rd March
The final results of the 12th March runoff elections to the lower house [the
Assembly of Representatives] of parliament in 12 single-mandate [electoral]
districts were summed up at a meeting of the country's Central Electoral
and Referendum Commission (CERC) yesterday, 22nd March. The Asia-Plus news
agency was told at the CERC press centre today that the mandates of 11
deputies of the Assembly of Representatives had been confirmed. It was
noted at the meeting that a number of violations of the law on elections to
the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan had occurred at Khorugh [the
administrative centre of Mountainous Badakhshon Autonomous Region]
electoral district No 41. The CERC therefore annulled the results of the
runoff elections in this [electoral] district and called further elections,
the date of which has not yet been set. The date of the runoff elections to
the lower house in Kofarnihon [21 km east of Dushanbe] electoral district
has not yet been set yet, either. The runoff elections of nominated
candidates to the Assembly of Representatives in Khojamaston [in southern
Khatlon Region] electoral district will be held on 23rd April.
