Sadullo Khayrulloyev was elected the chairman of the new lower house o Tajik
parliament, the Assembly of Representatives, by secret ballot during its
first sitting in Dushanbe on 27th March. The sitting also elected three
deputy chairmen, the chairmen of nine committees and of two commissions of
the lower house.The following are excerpts from the report by Tajik radio:
The first session of the Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly
of the Republic of Tajikistan began its work in Dushanbe today. [passage
omitted: president tells parliament pleased with election results - repeat]
 
[Correspondent] Then the deputies endorsed the agenda of the first working
day of the Assembly of Representatives' session. The agenda includes 11
points. They are: on the draft temporary regulations of the Assembly of
Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan, on the interim
Secretariat of the Assembly of Representatives, on the Tellers' Commission
of the Assembly of Representatives, on the chairman of the Assembly of
Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan of the second
convocation, on the number of deputy chairmen of the Assembly of
Representatives, on deputy chairmen of the Assembly of Representatives, on
the setting up of committees and commissions of the Assembly of
Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan of the second
convocation, on the number and composition of committees and commissions of
the Assembly of Representatives, on chairmen of the committees and
commissions of the Assembly of Representatives, on the professional
composition of the committees and commissions of the Assembly of
Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan and on the head of
the apparatus of the Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of
Tajikistan.

Decisions were (?immediately) adopted on the first three issues. The fourth
issue, the chairman of the Assembly of Representatives, roused particular
attention. The nomination of a deputy of the Assembly of Representatives
from [name indistinct] electoral precinct, Sadullo Khayrulloyev, was put
forward. (?In line with the [election] law), Sadullo Khayrulloyev's
nomination was voted on by secret ballot.

Thus, Sadullo Khayrulloyev was elected chairman of the Assembly of
Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan of the second
convocation according to results of a secret ballot by deputies of the
Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan of the
second convocation.

The deputies gathered again in the session hall to continue the
consideration of the remaining issues on the agenda after the second break.
The following decisions were adopted on them and the following people were
elected deputy chairmen of the Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme
Assembly of Tajikistan of the second convocation: Abdumajid Dostiyev,
Gulafzo Savriddinova and Jamoliddin Mansurov. Nine committees of the
Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan of the
second convocation were set up, the heads of which are the following: [the
chairman of the Committee on Budget, Finance and Tax] Safar Safarov, [the
chairman of the Committee on the Constitution, Legislation and Human
Rights] Zarif Aliyev, [the chairman of the Committee on State Structure and
Local Self-Government] Abdusattor Jabborov, [the chairman of the Committee
on Agriculture and Employment Issues] Shodibek Ahmadov, [the chairman of
the Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and
Information] Ibrohim Usmonov, [the chairman of the Committee on Science,
Education, Culture and Youth Policy] Mahmadsho Ilolov, [the chairman of the
Committee on Social, Family, Health and Environmental Issues] Sanavbar
Rahimova, [the chairman of the Committee on Llaw and Order, Defence and
Security] Abdurahmon Azimov and [the chairman of the Committee on Power
Engineering, Industry, Construction and Communication] Yusuf Ahmedov. Every
committee is made up of seven members from among the deputies of the
Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan.
Moreover, two commissions were set up which will be headed by deputies of
the Assembly of Representatives, Khalifabobo Homidov and Amirsho Miraliyev.
Narzullo Abdulvahhobov was elected the chairman of the apparatus of the
Assembly of Representatives.

The president of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmonov, congratulated
all those named on their election to these posts. Then, a break was
announced again.

At the moment, the deputies are gathering in the session hall of the Supreme
Assembly of Tajikistan to consider the remaining issues on the agenda of
the first session of the Assembly of Representatives of the Republic of
Tajikistan of the second convocation.
