[Presenter] A news conference attended by the chairman of the
Supreme Court of Tajikistan, Ubaydullo Davlatov, was held in
the capital of the country [Dushanbe] today [15th October]. Our
correspondent, Izzatbek Idi, reports:

[Correspondent] During the news conference with domestic
and foreign journalists, the chairman of the Supreme Court of
the republic, Ubaydullo Davlatov, touched upon issues relating
to the country's presidential elections [6th November].
Expressing his view on the repeated statements made by
presidential candidates Sulton Quvvatov, Davlat Usmon and
Sayfiddin Turayev, he said that the greater part of their
claims did not have any legal basis. Despite this, Ubaydullo
Davlatov went on to say that the Central Election and
[Referendum] Commission had created conditions for extending
the term of registration of candidates. However, their demands
to call an extraordinary session of the Supreme Assembly
[parliament] did not conform with the legislation of the
Republic of Tajikistan, Davlatov said.

Ubaydullo Davlatov also noted that there had been no
lawbreakings during the campaign of registration of nominees.
Davlatov gave detailed answers to questions put by
journalists at the end of the news conference.
