The presidential elections in Tajikistan [6th November] will be
observed by representatives from some CIS countries,
international organizations and by media representatives.
A representative from the Central Election Commission of
Uzbekistan [CEC], Oblaqul Hamroyev, arrived in Dushanbe
yesterday, 3rd November, to observe the elections.
Asia-Plus was told at the Uzbek embassy [in Dushanbe] that
the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan
to Tajikistan, Bakhtiyor Urdashev and the embassy's third
secretary, (?Abdurahmon Pulatov), will watch the elections at
the polling stations as observers from Uzbekistan, along with
the Uzbek CEC member.
Representatives of the Russian CEC are expected to arrive
in the Tajik capital tomorrow [5th November]: CEC member
Vladimir Butayev and senior consultant to the CEC, Vyacheslav
Kravets. According to the ambassador of the Russian Federation
to Tajikistan, Yevgeniy Belov, 14 Russian diplomats will
observe the elections along with representatives of the Russian
Federation's CEC. Members of the CIS Interparliamentary
Assembly are also expected to arrive in Dushanbe from St
Petersburg soon. Foreign journalists are already arriving in
Dushanbe to cover the presidential elections.
