Text of report by Iranian radio from Mashhad on 7th November

The [presidential] candidate from the Islamic Rebirth Party,
Davlat Usmon, told journalists in a news conference on Sunday
[7th November] that the announcement of his name as a candidate
in the elections by the Central Electoral Commission was
illegal. He said on lifting the boycott by the Islamic Rebirth
Party that the party presidium did not adopt any decision on
lifting the boycott, and the party chairman, Sayed Abdullo
Nuri, took part at the elections as chairman of the National
Reconciliation Commission. Nuri said the previous day during
participation at the presidential elections that his
participation meant to lift the boycott of the elections.
Sulton Quvvatov and Sayfiddin Turayev, two other
candidates in the presidential elections of Tajikistan, who
were also not registered, described the process of the
elections as a designed scenario. They said that they did not
recognise the results of the elections. UN observers and other
international observers were not present in the presidential
elections of Tajikistan.
