Turkmen Electoral Commission sets work schedule for election run-up

Text of report by Turkmen TV on 19th May

[Presenter] Issues linked with the parliamentary elections in
[12th] December [1999] were discussed during a meeting of the
Central Commission for Elections and Conducting Referendums
[Central Electoral Commission] in Turkmenistan, today [19th
May]. Along with the members of the Central Electoral
Commission, the meeting was attended by the leadership of the
Mejlis [the Turkmen parliament], the minister of justice
[Tagandurdy Khallyyev], governors of the Regions and of the
city of Ashkhabad [the Turkmen capital].
A programme for organizing work to prepare for the
election of deputies to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan was agreed
during the expanded meeting of the Central Electoral Commission .

The members of the commission approved a timetable for
meetings of the Central Electoral Commission and a work
schedule.
