Text of report by the Uzbek newspaper 'Narodnoye Slovo'
[Newspaper headline] For the attention of journalists!
In order to objectively, impartially and openly cover the
forthcoming elections to the Supreme Assembly and of the
president of the Republic of Uzbekistan the Central Electoral
Commission is rendering comprehensive support to foreign and
local journalists. A press centre of the Central Electoral
Commission will be functioning at 16 Navoi Street, Tashkent (in
the building of the National Press Centre).
That press centre is equipped in accordance with
international standards. Journalists can obtain there the
necessary information on the coverage of elections and have
access to the library with special literature, to computers,
telephone and fax machines with international lines.
At 10 a.m. on 9th September the Central Electoral
Commission will present its press centre and will hold a news
conference.
Local and foreign journalists who will cover the elections
should be accredited to the press centre of the Central
Electoral Commission.
