Uzbek elections: Five parties will participate in parliamentary elections

The Central Electoral Commission [CEC] held a regular meeting
today [13th September]. Our correspondent reports.
[Correspondent] At a meeting today, the CEC considered the
issue of participation of political parties in the
parliamentary elections to the Supreme Assembly of the republic.

A relevant decision was adopted by the commission in
accordance with the results of preliminary work.
All previous meetings of the CEC had started with
particular enthusiasm and the meeting today also continued this
tradition. The leaders of political parties of Uzbekistan
attended this meeting. The CEC found that all the documents
presented by the political parties on their participation in
parliamentary elections fully meet the requirements of the Law
on elections.

In accordance with Article 21 of the Law on elections to
the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Uzbekistan, [the CEC]
adopted a decision to allow the People's Democratic Party of
Uzbekistan, Adolat [Justice] Social Democratic Party, Vatan
taraqqiyoti [Homeland Progress] Party, Fidokorlar
[Self-sacrificers] National Democratic Party, Milliy tiklanish
[National Revival] Party of Uzbekistan to participate in the
parliamentary elections to the Supreme Assembly.

At the end of the meeting, the leaders of political
parties expressed their readiness to participate in the
elections. Work in this direction will become more active with
the start of the nomination of candidates.
