Uzbekistan: Kazakhstani President to Visit Tashkent
Kazakhstan's president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, will visit Uzbekistan later this month, according to Kazakhstani diplomats.
The upcoming visit was raised by Kazakhstan's new ambassador to Uzbekistan, Boribay Jeksembin, as he presented his credentials to President Islam Karimov on March 4.
"Islam Karimov noted the importance of the upcoming official visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Uzbekistan in March of this year, during which it is planned to address issues of bilateral cooperation and to discuss regional problems," the CA-News.org news agency quoted the Kazakhstani Ministry as saying on March 9.
Experts say a likely topic of discussion is the planned OSCE summit that Kazakhstan wants to convene in 2010. Kazakhstan is serving as the OSCE chair this year. Uzbekistan has yet to endorse the need for an OSCE summit.
