Turkey: Ankara Calling for Eurasian Union
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davitoglu has proposed an ambitious plan to create a Eurasian equivalent of the European Union to promote stability and economic growth across the world's largest landmass.
The upcoming Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan railroad appears to be a catalyst for a Eurasian union. Davitoglu predicted on February 4 that the line will become a major east-west transport link, and that all Eurasian states should integrate with similar transportation links to develop a Silk Road trade corridor, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
