Azerbaijan Slams Los Angeles Times, Armenia Slams Euronews
Azerbaijani leaders are upset with The Los Angeles Times. The newspaper has reported plans to feature the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh together with Armenia in a special February 13-14 exhibition for travel agencies.
Azeri-Americans have written the Times, calling on the newspaper to respect international law, which recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan's state-run APA news agency reported on February 9. Karabakh will reportedly be presented at the show as a separate entity from Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, Armenian officials are criticizing the pan-European television news network Euronews for airing a February 1 documentary that they say offered an overly dramatic depiction of the hardships faced by Azeris displaced by the Karabakh conflict, the PanArmenian news agency reported.
The European network earlier incurred Baku's wrath for airing a documentary on Karabakh that purportedly exaggerated Armenia's historical ties to the region, according to the assertions of Azerbaijani officials.
