Russia is still wavering about restoring full cooperation with NATO, Moscow's ambassador to the organization is saying.
"I can say that Russia has not so far taken a decision to restore full-scale cooperation with NATO, above all in its military component," Dmitry Rogozin said in an interview broadcast on the Vesti television channel March 27.
Rogozin said a ministerial meeting of the Russia-NATO Council to be held by June 6 "could provide for the full resumption of Russia and NATO cooperation." Following a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said on March 5 that the alliance wanted to restart cooperation with Russia. But Rogozin said the announcement "was not enough" because Russia had not been involved in the decision-making process. "Russia must also make a decision," he said.
NATO unilaterally suspended the work of the Russia-NATO Council last year after the war in Georgia, accusing Russia of using excessive force.
