Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan: Presidents to Discuss Energy Exports at Aral Sea Summit
The presidents of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are planning to discuss joint efforts to develop energy export routes and railroads in late April.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and Kazakhstan's Nursultan Nazarbayev have scheduled bilateral talks for April 28 while both are attending a meeting of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, to be held in Almaty, according to a statement issued by Nazarbayev's office.
A report distributed by the Turkmen state news agency on March 31 said the two leaders would use the talk to further develop a joint position on construction of the Prikaspiiski energy export network and the construction of a rail link to connect Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran.
To prepare the ground for the presidential meeting, an inter-governmental commission is scheduling a session for April 13-14.
