AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY: ANKARA AND BAKU TO DISCUSS GAS PRICES
5/05/09

Azerbaijan and Turkey will engage in a fresh round of talks on a new natural gas export agreement amid a chill in relations between the two allies over Ankara’s efforts to normalize relations with Armenia.

A delegation from Turkey’s state oil and gas corporation BOTAS is expected to arrive soon in Baku to discuss the price for gas exports via Turkey with its Azerbaijani counterpart, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR), the Day.az news website reported.

Turkey is buying Azerbaijani gas at a discount rate of $120 per 1,000 cubic meters, but Baku is inclined to adjust the tariff to new market -- and, perhaps, political -- realities, Azerbaijani media outlets reported.
