Turkish President Abdullah Gul will make a state visit to Kyrgyzstan on May 26-28. The visit will focus on bolstering bilateral trade ties.
Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey stood at $136 million in 2008, a 45 percent improvement on the figure in 2007. Kyrgyz exports to Turkey in 2008 amounted to $44.8 million, Turkish imports to the Central Asian state totaled $91.1 million, the 24.kg news agency reported on May 22.
Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev is seeking an expansion of commercial ties. Turkey is the second largest investor in Kyrgyzstan after Russia, the 24.kg report added.
