Nearly a dozen Turkish construction companies operating in Turkmenistan face investigation for shoddy building practices.
A video outlining "serious shortcomings in [the] construction of a number of important facilities in the central streets of the capital intended primarily for social purposes -- houses, schools, kindergartens" has been shown to the Supreme Chamber of Control, a standards and supervisory body, which is expected to take action.
Files may also be sent to the Chief Prosecutors Office after President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov made "serious claims" about the quality of the new buildings, the semi-official Turkmenistan.ru reported on May 25.
