European Union officials discussed ways of importing much-coveted Caspian Sea oil and gas with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammedyarov during a October 26 EU-South Caucasus meeting in Luxembourg.
"Energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and [the] European Commission [the executive arm of the European Union] were discussed at the meeting, [as well as] the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring energy security of Europe," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced on October 27.
The reportedly growing role of the EU in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was also a topic of discussion, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
