DEPUTY REGIONAL COORDINATOR, IREX

TITLE: Program Associate
DIVISION: Academic Exchanges and Research, IREX/DC
POSITION LOCATION: Washington, DC

ABOUT IREX:
IREX is a US-based nonprofit organization committed to international education in its broadest sense. IREX's efforts encompass academic research, professional training, institution building, technical assistance, and policy programs between the United States and the countries of Eastern Europe, the New Independent States, Asia, and the Near East.

IREX fosters excellence in services to internal and external customers and encourages all staff to continuously improve the systems and processes that are essential to our work.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
IREX seeks several program associates to provide administrative support for its Academic Exchanges and Research Division. Principal responsibilities will include providing back-up and administrative support on IREX programs in the NIS and CEE to DC-based program officers. These positions are available immediately.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Duties include responding to program applicant and fellow inquiries; negotiating placement of fellows at US host institutions and universities; processing and tracking financial transactions; maintaining office database and files; drafting correspondence, reports, and proposals; and assisting with conferences, orientations, and training programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA in International Studies or related field;
  • Interest in the NIS and CEE regions and knowledge of Russian or regional language;
  • Strong computer (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and writing skills; and
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
