Over the next 10 days Kyrgyzstan intends to form a government-owned company
called “Fuel Filling Complex Manas” to supply the US-run Manas air base.
But seeing as Kyrgyzstan doesn’t produce a drop of jet fuel, it’ll haveto come from somewhere else, like Russia.
Which is where some say it has been coming from all along.
Taalaibek Okenov, the President of the Association of Civil AviationAirlines, told EurasiaNet.org the new company will be based on thestorage capacities of Aalam Services, the main fuel depot at Manasairport.
“But, of course, much will depend on the people appointed tomanagement. We’ll hope that they won’t be the same people who workedin old structures,” he cautioned.
