Another Armenian man has been detained in Georgia's weapons-grade uranium trafficking crackdown. Armenian national security officials announced on November 8 that they have arrested Garik Dadaian, an Armenian citizen who has formerly served time for attempted uranium smuggling, as the supplier of the highly enriched uranium transported to Georgia from Armenia.
The Armenian National Security Service said it closely cooperated with their Georgian counterparts in cracking down on the smuggling scheme. An Armenian scientist told RFE/RL that a lack of uranium enrichment facilities within Armenia means that the nuclear bomb material could not have been produced locally.
