Since the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink in early 2007, the trail of his alleged murderer has dragged on and on. Dink family members and critics has been frustrated by the slowness of the case, but they have also been dismayed by the refusal of the authorities to look into the case's deeper connections with state elements. Although the case continues to drag on, there is some room for hope: Istanbul prosecutors Dink family lawyers have just announced that they prosecutors will start investigating dozens of top officials to see whether their negligence might have led to Dink's murder. Full details here.
(UPDATE -- Turkey's Ministry of the Interior is now denying that the Dink case's scope has been widened. So far no comment from the Dink family's lawyers.)
