If you build it, they will spawn? That seems to be the assumption that some very visionary entrepreneurs of the Bin Salem Holding company in the United Arab Emirates are working under. The company, together with German partners, has just put the finishing touches on a caviar-producing sturgeon farm on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. More than 10 football fields long, the farm is expected to produce some 32 tons of caviar annually -- which is not even enough to satisfy the UAE's annual consumption of 35 tons.
To get the farm going, 22 adult sturegeons were flown over to the UAE from Germany in special containers. More details here.
