President: Turkmenistan Demonstrates Responsible Approach to International Cooperation in Energy Sector
"Turkmenistan demonstrates the most responsible approach to international cooperation in the energy sector, implementing major projects in creating a multiple gas transport system, as well as promoting its international initiatives in the field of energy security," said Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, addressing the issue of the International Oil and Gas Conference to be held in Ashgabat on September 13, the Turkmen government reported. According to British Petroleum, Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves, after Russia, Iran, and Qatar. Currently, Turkmenistan exports natural gas to China, Iran and Russia.

International Energy Forum begins in Ashgabat
On September 9, the Ashgabat Exhibition Palace hosted an international exhibition and academic conference entitled “Major Areas of Development of Energy Industry of Turkmenistan,” dedicated to the Day of Workers of the Energy Industry of Turkmenistan and organized by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Energy and Chamber of Commerce. The Forum was designed to familiarize international energy companies with Turkmenistan's achievements in the energy sector, as well as investment opportunities and prospects for international cooperation.
The conference had attendees from over 70 companies from 20 countries, including the US, Japan, China, Russia, Britain, Germany, Ukraine, and India. Companies such as General Electric, Calik Energy,Alston, Setstroyservis, and others showcased their products at the exhibition, presenting their latest technologies and energy know-how, samples of high-tech equipment for large and small power plants, transmission lines of different voltage, and distribution systems.

Turkmenistan, China to Enhance Cooperation
A delegation headed by the Chairwoman of the Scientific Committee of the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, Ms. Yu Sintyan, visited Turkmenistan. Ms. Sintyan held talks at the Foreign Ministry, she discussed potential partnerships and follow up to the agreements discussed by President and the Chinese leadership this past June.

Turkmen President to visit Yerevan – Armenian Foreign Ministry
President Berdymukhamedov will visit Armenia, Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev said in Yerevan at a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, the Armenian media reported, referring to the press service of the Foreign Ministry. Planning for the visit is underway. On September 5-7, Yerevan is hosting the fourth meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Armenian commission on economic cooperation.

Ukraine Offered Turkmenistan Visa-Free Travel
In Kiev, at a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of Ministers, Baimurad Khojamukhamedov, Ukrainian Prime-Minister Nikolai Azarov offered to simplify the visa arrangement between the two countries, the Ukrainian government press-service reported.
“Ukraine has visa free regime with more than 40 countries. However, with Turkmenistan mutual visas remain necessary. Let’s introduce a visa-free regime first for businessmen, and then discuss possibilities of removing the visa requirements for the rest of our citizens,” said the Prime-Minister.
