Ashgabat to Sign Energy Contract with Turkish Çalik Enerji
Turkish company Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. will modernize Ashgabat’s energy supply system, according to an official Turkmen source who disclosed that the Ashgabat city administration will sign a contract with the Turkish company. This is a five year project which will be implemented in three stages. Ashgabat’s 60 energy substations will be connected to one grid. This week President Berdymukhamedov met with the Chairman of the board of directors of Çalık Holding, Akhmet Chalik.

Berdymukhamedov Inspected Works at Galkynysh Field
During his working visit to Mary province, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov became acquainted with the pace of development of the Galkynysh gas field.
The helicopter carrying the President of Turkmenistan landed at one of the field sections, which is being developed by Chinese company CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Co. Ltd.. The head of the CNPC subsidiary in Turkmenistan briefed the head of state on the situation in the area. Following the briefing, the Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of CNPC’s tasks in the context of the diversification of exports of Turkmen energy resources. Noting the importance of greater use of advanced technologies, the President of Turkmenistan urged the contractors to pick up the pace of the work.

Berdymukhamedov Discussed Galkynysh Development with Head of «Petrofac Limited»
Turkmen President Berdymukhamedov and the CEO of Petrofac Limited (UAE) group of companies, Mr. Ayman Asfari, discussed development of the Galkynysh gas field “in southeast Turkmenistan, where Petrofac is building a plant to remove sulfur from commercial gas with annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, as well as ground facilities for production of marketable gas with capacity of producing 20 billion cubic meters per year. The total cost of the contract is about US $4 billion.

Indian Delegation Holds Talks with Turkmen Officials
A delegation led by Minister of Human Resource Development, Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of India, Mr. Kapil Sibal, visited Ashgabat to discuss Turkmen-Indian cooperation in the science, education, and communication sectors. Special attention was given to information technologies as an area for developing partnership.
