Web-site “Turkmenistan Chronicles” Repeatedly Attacked
On October 21, the web-site of the Turkmen Initiative for Human Rights, “Turkmenistan Chronicles,” was attacked. The site had been backed-up on October 5, so all materials and comments published after that date are now lost. On October 22, attempts to access the website took viewers to a black screen with a note “ejen ****. Go home :).” Following repeated attempts, it was possible to open the site, but all materials for 2012 were gone and its format changed. The website creators managed to publish a notification: “Dear Readers, temporarily all news will be published on Ruslan’s blog at: http://chrono-tm.blogspot.co.at/”

Turkmenistan Moves to Conditional-Cumulative Pension System
The Turkmen Parliament adopted the law on 'Approving and introducing the Turkmen Code on the social protection of the population' in connection with introduction of the conditional-cumulative pension system. 'The transition to this type of pension system in Turkmenistan will allow citizens to accumulate pension capital through pension insurance paid by the employer and personally', the parliament said.

Berdymukhamedov Erected Statue to His Living Father
The new Culture Palace, which was opened in the Akhalsk region, is named after Mialikguly Berdymukhamedov, the current President’s father. A statue of Berdymukhamedov senior was also erected in front of the Palace. President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov took part in the opening ceremony.

Turkmen Theater Stages Play Based on Berdymukhamedov’s Book
In time for the anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, the National Drama Theater staged a play based on the book about Berdymukhamedov’s grandfather, entitled “Your Good Name is Imperishable.” The book, allegedly authored by Berdymukhamedov, was published a year ago, also on the eve of the Independence Day.
