Turkmenistan Chronicles Web-site Hacked
Turkmenistan Chronicles web-site, the online publication of Turkmenistan Initiative for Human Rights (TIHR) was hacked on December 5, 2012. Hackers posted pornographic images on the main page of the web-site which remained there for several hours after the attack along with photo collages and threats against TIHR Founder, Farid Tukhbatulin, former Foreign Minister Boris Shikhmuradov, and the leader of the oppositional Republican Party of Turkmenistan, Narmukhamed Khanamov. The web-site is unavailable and there is no information when and where it will go back online. Currently, the materials normally published on the web-site can be found on Ruslan T. blog and on TIHR page in facebook On the blog it says that TIHR will restore work of its website and will proceed with its work. The authors of the blog believe that information about the deaths of people participating in compulsory public events provoked this attack – the third attack against the site this year.
