President of Turkmenistan Held Talks with President of Japanese-Turkmen Economic Cooperation Committee
President Berdymukhamedov met with Yoichi Kobayashi, President of the Japanese-Turkmen economic cooperation committee and Executive Vice-President of “Itochu Corporation,” to discuss issues related to diversification of the Turkmen-Japanese cooperation and long-term partnership in the energy sector, trade and economic sector, chemical industry, transport, agriculture, water management and other industries.

Iran, Turkmenistan Reach Agreement on Gas Cooperation
During talks in Ashgabat, Iran and Turkmenistan struck an agreement to boost cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, senior Iranian energy officials announced. "Negotiations took place in the framework of previous contracts and fortunately, the results were completely satisfactory," National Iranian Gas Company's Chief Javad Oji said, reporting on the results of his recent visit to Turkmenistan. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan signed a 25-year gas trade contract in 1997 under which a 200 kilometer pipeline was constructed for gas imports from the neighbouring country. No further details of the new agreement were given.

Turkmenistan’s electricity exports to Afghanistan and Iran increase
Export of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan and Iran based on the results of 2012 is estimated at 2713.3 million kW/h, exceeding the previous year's figure by 7.5%, reported Turkmenistan state newspaper Neitralnii Turkmenistan. 'It is expected that production of electricity will reach 19,189 kW/h and compared to 2011, the growth rate is 105%’, the article said. Currently, the installed capacity of all power plants within the Turkmen energy system is 4104 MW, including 1643 MW, or 40 per cent, produced by modern gas turbine generators.

Afghanistan Called on Turkmenistan to Restore Electricity Supplies
Two weeks ago Turkmenistan suspended electricity supplies to Afghan province of Herat due to a power overload, according to Turkmenistan’s Council to Herat, Ilias Gaipov. According to the Afghan information agency Bakhtar, during a meeting with a representative of Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry, Abdulnasir Usufi, the Turkmen Council said that Turkmenistan is currently repairing the power cables and supplies will resume shortly. Usufi called upon Gaipov to speed up the problem resolution.
