Ashgabat Hosted Turkmen-French Negotiations
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov received French Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent Fabius, who came to Ashgabat as a head of his country’s delegation. Mr. Fabius said that French companies are interested in expanding their presence in the Turkmen market and stressed that there are good prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, in technology, telecommunication, tourism, agriculture, and other sectors.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov received French Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent Fabius, who came to Ashgabat as a head of his country’s delegation. Mr. Fabius said that French companies are interested in expanding their presence in the Turkmen market and stressed that there are good prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, in technology, telecommunication, tourism, agriculture, and other sectors.
The French delegation also held talks at Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry and signed a number of bilateral documents including an Agreement on Air Services, an agreement between Turkmenistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce “France-Turkmenistan,” as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmenistan’s State Institute of Oil and Gas and France’s Total.

Turkmen President Received Iranian Vice President
President Berdymukhamedov received Iranian Vice-President for International Affairs Ali Saeedlou, who stated that Iran recognizes the importance of bolstering of bilateral ties with neighboring countries, including Turkmenistan. Saeedlou headed a high ranking delegation from Iran to Ashgabat to inaugurate Iran's seventh specialized exhibition in Ashgabat. The Iranian vice-president and his delegation met with Turkmen officials to discuss cooperation in the transportation, communications, and energy sectors.

Iranian President to Visit Turkmenistan and Tajikistan
On March 21 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit Turkmenistan to participate in Novruz Holiday celebrations, reported the Iranian news agency, IRNA, citing the Iranian leader. According to the report, Ahmadinejad will hold several meetings with the Government of Turkmenistan to discuss relations between Iran and Turkmenistan.

Khalifa concludes Turkmenistan trip
The President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, returned home on Saturday afternoon, following a state visit to Turkmenistan at the invitation of Turkmen President Berdymukhamedov. Sheikh Khalifa and Berdymukhamedov discussed cooperation between the two countries. Upon completion of the official visit, the UAE President spent a number of days on a private visit.

Turkmen President Received OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov received the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Knut Vollebaek, who came to Turkmenistan to discuss political, economic, environmental, and humanitarian cooperation. The President and the Commissioner focused on the situation in Afghanistan; “Turkmenistan has great potential and positive experience it could offer to other countries," Vollebaek said.

The Chairman of Turkmenistan's State Committee for Tourism, PalvanTaganov, and Director General of Turkmenistan's TurkenAtlary (Turkmen Horses), Yazgeldi Annaev, visited Belgium to participate in the international equestrian exhibition «Flanders Horse Expo 2013» and study the experience of Belgian colleagues in organizing such events. The expo brought together over 180 exhibitors from 30 countries, who presented their products, services, and technologies in the field of horse breeding.

Turkmen Delegation Visited Finland
A Turkmen delegation of members of parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and Turkmenistan's Society for the Blind and Deaf, visited Helsinki, Finland, in February 2013, to study Finland's experience in creating equal opportunities for people with disabilities. The visit was organized under the auspices of the UNDP project to promote the integration of people with disabilities, and was funded by the Finnish government.

Turkmenistan and International Red Cross Committee Adopt Joint Plan of Actions for 2013
Turkmenistan and International Red Cross Committee in Central Asia (IRCC) adopted an action plan to implement international humanitarian law for 2013 aimed at further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IRCC. The plan envisions the organization of joint seminars, trainings, roundtables, academic research of humanitarian law, and events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the IRCC.

Turkmenistan and UN Develop Plan to Decrease Numbers of People with No Citizenship
Turkmenistan's authorities and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees developed a joint action plan to decrease the number of people without citizenship in Turkmenistan, reported Turkmenistan’s Migration Service.
