Powerful Oil Inflow Obtained in Turkmen sector of Caspian Sea
A powerful inflow of commercial oil has been obtained at exploratory well number 204 in Northern Goturdepe field. The specialists of the State Corporation Turkmennebit (Turkmenoil) drilled the well in the shallow waters of the Caspian Sea to the depth of 4865 meters and hit the oil-bearing bed in the interval of 4815-4834 meters.

US Embassy Holds 2013 U.S.-Turkmenistan Business Forum
On April 30, the US Embassy, together with the Government of Turkmenistan, held the third annual U.S.-Turkmenistan Business Forum. This event, which convened hundreds of government officials, leaders of industry, academics, and business experts, aimed to provide an opportunity for American businessmen and specialists to meet their peers in Ashgabat, share their expertise, and learn more about this Central Asian nation’s energy and agriculture sectors – the main focus of this year’s Business Forum.
Morning sessions at the Oil and Gas Institute dealt with Turkmenistan’s rapidly-growing energy industry. The panels were composed of experts from the US Department of State, major American universities, think tanks, and leading international companies Chevron, ExxonMobil, and General Electric. In the afternoon, the Forum moved to the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen State Agricultural University for talks on innovations in agriculture and strategies for improving soil quality and crop yields. Attendees listened to presentations from leading agricultural analysts, managers of world-renowned corporations, including Case New Holland, AGCO, and John Deere, and distinguished professors from both the U.S. and Turkmenistan.

Ukrainian Company Received One Billion Contract in Turkmenistan
Donetsk group Altkom signed three contracts with Turkmen companies for a total of one billion dollars to build an international airport in the city of Turkmenabad (former Charjou) with the capacity of 500 passengers per hour, a 1.6 kilometer automobile bridge over Amu-Daria river and a 1.75 kilometers railway bridge. The construction will involve 600 Ukrainian specialists and up to 2000 Turkmen workers, according to Interfax-Ukraina.

Chinese Company to Supply Drilling Rigs for Galkynysh Oil Field
State concern Turkmengaz will sign a contract with the Chinese company Lanzhou LS-National Oilwell Petrolium Engineering Co., Ltd for the purchase of drilling rigs for Galkynysh oil field development, for their installation, and personnel training.

Turkish Company to Build Gas Turbine Power Stations in Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan’s state electric energy corporation Turkmenenergo under Turkmenistan’s Energy Ministry will sign a contract with the Turkish company Çalik Enerji for the construction of three power stations in Akhal and Lebap regions. The construction is to begin in May of 2013 and to be completed in February of 2014.
